This poem was inspired by my blind son.
A Vision for my Soul © Donna Rae Lands (2011) for her son Ben
I came into the world full of life and wonder…
For my struggle would be like roaring thunder…
No one knew that day that my sight was taken away…
Neither a rainbow I ever saw…nor the midnight starry sky in all its awe…
Close your eyes to see the road of all the things that never grow old…
I came into the world full of life and wonder…
A blue moon always shining in its bloom…
I struggled with all my might to see in the world of sight…whilst bully’s teased me day and night…
No one knew that day that my sight was taken away…
Vision is blessed for all to see but never ever for blind ole me…
The fear of being found in only the world of sound…
I came into the world full of life and wonder…
If only you knew the loneliness that ensued…
Walking in my shoes of my vision blues…
No one knew that day that my sight was taken away…
Fake it till you made it was never in the plan…
Sam the blind man was my song to play along… all day for their play…
I came into the world full of life and wonder…
No one knew that day that my sight was taken away…
