Note from the author: This poem was written when I was 23 years young. It doesn't seem like the outside world has changed over time.
Alone by the roadside Ⓒ by Donna R.(Riley) Lands Jan 1985
The sky looks gray
Clouds fog our mind
Deep down in our hearts-we wonder why
We feel all alone-by the roadside of this concrete world
Why can't we fit in with the plastic people
And their floating bubbles
With the selfish misers and their money hungry schemes
The stars are fading away
Our gloomy world showing no more light
Love for our fellow man is floating down the waterfall
Only to hit the rocks and
We wonder why
We feel all alone
By the roadside of this concrete world
We see no more rainbows after the misty rain
Our world glorified by evilness of the dark
Morals and values shot down
Only to hit the ground like the hunted deer and
We wonder why
We feel all alone
By the roadside of this concrete world
Yet day in and day out
Boredom takes its toll
We no longer seek the great love
We wonder why
We feel all alone
By the roadside of this concrete world
