Our Simple days © Donna Rae Lands
Our simple days were those K-Mart ways…
Their sub sandwiches were the entire rave…
It made our smiles bright because their prices were so right…
Our simple days were those Walmart ways…
Shop until you drop may be no more…
After all, they only let five people in the store…
Give us those Dick’s burgers to explore…
In those simple days inside our mind-We look for simple ways of the highest kind…
Going to the park in the dark in the pouring rain…
Keeping us controlled has made us so insane…
Believe in those simple ole days…
Hike up the mountains and enjoy our sunshine rays…
Sitting on our porches and lighting those evening torches…
We crave to connect in this world of lonely praise of reflect…
The simple days of making love…
Traveling our empty freeways lost above…
Noting that our souls were never bought...
And we were never engulfed in their plans of rot…
Those were our simple days in all their glorious ways…
Amen.
